Overview
Peixian County is next to the Nansi Lake and the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, and is at the intersection of national major strategic projects such as the “South to North Water Transfer Project”, the “Major National Ecological System Protection and Restoration Project”, and the “Grand Canal National Cultural Park Construction”. The Fengpei Canal is an important node for the ecological protection and restoration of the Grand Canal.
The ecological security buffer zone of the Fengpei Canal starts from the East Ring Road in the west and ends at the Subeidi River in the north of Jiangsu Province in the east, with a length of 2.9 kilometers and an area of 51.6 hectares. Through vertical natural infiltration and horizontal blue green suture, a diversified and composite ecological corridor is constructed. It mainly includes four-dimensional ecological buffer zones, functional wetland purification, habitat community construction, supporting facilities, intelligent interaction, cultural construction and other projects.
Highlights
In the ecological protection and restoration of the Abundant Canal, ZEHO ECO, guided by the top-level planning of “ecosystem construction”, follows the texture characteristics of water, forest, farmland, lake, grass and village under the overall framework of “two-way city”, and gradually develops to the ecological logic of “suture growth”. Integrating natural environment, urban context, hydraulic facilities and other elements, implementing biodiversity conservation, a series of ecological engineering methods, and the establishment of an appropriate public activity system and open space system have gradually become the keywords of the Fengpei Canal, effectively enhancing the regional ecological and cultural influence. Deepen the “three life concept”, help and empower Peixian County to build a “high-quality garden city with cultural characteristics and charm”, provide Peixian County with a systematic Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and build a multi-level composite three-dimensional space of “people culture landscape city”.
